Bariatric Restraint Developed in
conjunction with Q'Straint
Mike Swanepoel,
Head of Bariatric Service, has worked with
Q’Straint, global
leaders on wheelchair passenger safety solutions, to
develop a bariatric restraint system for use when
conveying patients on hospital beds. The CEN compliant
restraint system is comprised of a four-point harness for
the torso, which has a unique design in the chest area to
aid comfort and a two-point harness for the lower body.
Both harnesses have extra long webbing, each of which is
adjustable to ensure patient safety and comfort.
The
developement of such a system was of high importance to
UK Specialist , in order to minimise any risks involved whilst
conveying a bariatric patient. Hospital beds were already
securely restrained within the fleet of specially designed
vehicles, but until now there was no patient restraint
system on the market designed for a bariatric patient, on the market.
